The Flowserve Valbart Rising Stem Ball Valve (RSBV) is the oil and gas industry’s choice for applications requiring a mechanically energized metal seat or soft-seat to safeguard against losses from process contamination or leakage of material. Whether your needs call for molecular sieve switching valves, isomerization, thermal oil, high/low temperatures, cavern storage isolation valves or critical services, the RSBV provides an unmatched level of robustness, reliability, and convenience.

The unique helical stem design of the RSBV allows the valve to travel from the fully closed position to the fully open position with friction free operation between the ball and seat. The stem travels in a linear motion only, unlike other RSBV designs that require both linear and rotary motion for operation. It is the helical stem that causes the 90 degree rotation of the ball as the stem moves through its’ linear range of motion. Tight shutoff (ANSI FCI 70-2 Class V/VI, API 598, ISO 5208 Rate A/B) is therefore achieved by the mechanical seating action of the stem and is unaffected by process differential pressure. The stem travels on friction free rollers that eliminate wear points as can be experienced with fixed stem guides in other manufacturers designs. An extended bushing on the lower trunnion is used to prevent accumulation of solids (such as desiccant carryover in a Molsieve service) in this critical area.

The friction free operation of the Flowserve Valbart RSBV provides extended service life and low maintenance costs. With no contact between the ball and seat during stem travel, the valve is very well suited to high cycle applications. Valve configurations and materials of construction are available for both extremely low and extremely high temperatures ranging from -196C to 600C. The Valbart RSBV has only one seat, so there is no need for a cavity pressure relief system.
The top entry design allows for visual inspection inside the valve without removal from the pipeline. The stem is blowout proof (API 600 and API 6D) and stem seals can be repacked inline and under pressure.

Flowserve Valbart RSBV’s are available in a range of pressure classes including ASME CL150 through CL2500, a size range of 1” through 24” and full port or reduced port configurations. Valves can be either manually operated or actuated as required.
