As one of the sunniest cities in Canada, it’s no surprise more solar projects will be popping up in Calgary.
While solar energy projects are still relatively new in Calgary, eventually, it will be common to see solar energy systems in residential homes, schools, commercial buildings, and community infrastructures.
The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is one of Calgary’s community leaders in the solar movement. Many of the CBE’s newer schools will have solar energy systems integrated as part of its buildings and school lesson plans.
Virtuoso Energy Ltd. was proud to help the CBE realize its vision. Virtuoso Energy Ltd. assisted the CBE in the design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the Solar PV system for three of CBE’s schools located in Coventry, Evergreen, and Cranston.
Location: Dr. Freda Miller School (Evergreen)
System Size: 110 kW
Module Type: Canadian Solar
Inverter: SolarEdge
Location: Northern Lights School (Coventry)
System Size: 135kW
Module Type: Canadian Solar
Inverter Type: SolarEdge
Location: Sibylla Kiddle School (Cranston)
System Size: 135kW
Module Type: Canadian Solar
Inverter Type: SolarEdge
The solar systems will be connected to the City of Calgary electrical grid but will offset a large amount of each of the school’s energy balance for the year. The students will also be able to see the benefits of the solar systems through an energy monitoring platform as part of their key educational elements.
