INSTALLATION SPEC

During a 45 day period in the summer of 2015, WEC installed a Precidium™ECS™ secondary containment liner under the entire SAGD facility as the Phase I construction was completing. This 12,500 barrel per day project required the liner system to be top mounted to a 10’ high Mile Post wall. The project contained 1,524 mostly 12” piles and was divided up into 5 distinct containment areas (Source water tank farm, Water storage tank farm, Diluent tank farm, Blowdown tank farm & Oil tank farm).

The entire 60 mil liner was prefabricated offsite utilizing WEC’s industry leading robotic application pre-spray system and permanently fused together onsite with Precidium™ECS™ Fusion.

To save costs, only the walls were covered in Fire Rated liner. The balance of the liner on the ground is to be covered in sand thus an FR rating was not required. This type of installation specific flexibility is easily achieved with the ECS lining system.

The facility went into production very shortly after the liner was completed as it was the last major project undertaken prior to the facility going live.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

This facility is the 4th major project WEC has completed for Drifter Projects in recent years. Drifter Projects say the ECS liner system has become their liner system of choice for a few key reasons:

  • “When the liner is the last phase of construction, it gives you confidence that the liner has integrity and was undamaged during the busiest phases of the job”.
  • “At the end of the heavy construction phase it is much easier to make room for WEC to come in and do an ECS liner in one big push for the entire facility”.
  • “WEC knows what they are doing, consistently gets the job done without drama and then cleanup and leave”.
