With more than $39 billion in oil and gas–related major projects currently under construction, and an additional $208 billion in the planning stages, Canada’s oil and natural gas sector is positioned to continue building responsibly for decades to come.

CAPP is a non‑partisan, research‑based industry association that advocates on behalf of member companies, large and small, that explore for, develop, and produce oil and natural gas across Canada. CAPP’s members account for nearly three‑quarters of Canada’s annual oil and natural gas production, while associate members provide a broad range of services that support the upstream industry.
Canada’s upstream oil and natural gas sector supports approximately 450,000 direct and indirect jobs in nearly every region of the country. In the past year, the industry contributed more than $85 billion to Canada’s GDP, delivered over 20 per cent of total export value, and generated $116 billion in taxes and royalties for governments between 2022 and 2024.
