RETRACTABLE PILOT & PILOT MONITORING IGNITION (PMI)

Figure 2 – Typical PMI System with switches, temperature readout & local alarms
A typical FlareTech retractable pilot package includes a Pilot Monitoring and Ignition (PMI) system that is mounted at ground level. The PMI continuously monitors the pilot, automatically reigniting it as necessary. A typical control panel consists of LCD temperature indicators, control switches and operational status indicators.
- Flexible monitoring – capable of monitoring up to 4 dual-nozzle pilots simultaneously.
- Alarm voting system (Dual Nozzle Only) – prevents shutdown when only 1 nozzle in a dual-nozzle tip fails.
- Automatic fuel gas shutoff – in response to a fail alarm.
- NEMA 4X control panel enclosure – standard protection.
- Optional features:
- PLC & HMI touchscreen.
- Local instrument data and alarm logging.
- Class 1 Division 2 rating.
- MODBUS integration.
- PLC & HMI touchscreen.
- Power supply options
- 24 VDC and/or 120 VAC.
- Optional solar and battery backup.
- Economical models – low-cost, standalone options.
- Simple, essential control packages for cost sensitive applications.

ELECTRONIC SPARK IGNITOR (ESI)
For certain applications, a retractable FlareTech Electronic Spark Ignitor (ESI) system can be used in place of a pilot. The ESI is used in applications where the waste gas stream is easily ignited. Each ESI is paired with a control panel that is mounted at ground level.

Figure 4 – Typical ESI Control Panel
- Fully retractable – can be easily lowered to grade for quick maintenance.
- Arcing tip – factory set to deliver arc for 1 second every 10 seconds to directly ignite waste gas.
- Regulatory compliance – ESI system can be used when waste gas is less than 1% H2
- NEMA 4X control panel enclosure – standard protection.
- Optional features:
- Ignition monitoring.
- Class 1 Division 2 rating.
- Power supply options:
- 12-24 VDC or 100-240 VAC.
- Optional solar and/or battery power.
