Becoming carbon neutral and net-zero; this is the future, and the industry needs to get used to it.
As an industry leader, PME plays a vital role in paving a pathway towards reducing your carbon emissions while simultaneously moving towards more sustainable, eco-friendly initiatives that adhere industry standards. Identifying a gap in the market to provide these services, PME developed a program called Carbon Conscious Construction (C3). This program provides our clients with greater insight into their project’s scope 3 emissions in addition to transparency into PME’s own corporate carbon emission calculations/monitoring and goals.
PME has a decarbonization team that is calculating our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions associated with the project. This requires and includes ongoing communication and collaboration with our subs and vendors to gather the necessary data – from fuel usage to material value chain, so we can constantly fine tune our methods for the sole purpose of helping our client(s).
We recently conducted a pilot project for a petrochemical client on monitoring and reviewing the emissions associated with their site services. Upon reporting and reviewing the data with the client and their facility operation team, we devised collaborative solutions to better meet their emission goals. These solutions are in the process of being implemented and monitored.
In the Alberta Heartland, PME is actively working with a long-term client on a project that is integrating a hydrocarbon processing sites. In addition to being contracted to perform maintenance on this facility, PME has also put forward a carbon neutral strategy with this client and is currently in the process of bringing it to fruition.
