NanosTech has developed a portfolio of technologies primed to support several aspects of the energy transition, including the extraction of cleaner fossil fuels and hydrogen fuels. Their flagship solution, ISUT, helps producers extract the oil the world still needs – faster and more economically while reducing emissions. ISUT provides a bolt-on, on-site oil extraction and upgrading process that improves operating margins while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Nova is a breakthrough modular refining technology that converts oils of any origin into high-quality, market-ready fuels. Nova brings Net Zero goals closer by making non-conventional feedstocks like biomass/crude (e.g., pyrolysis oil) higher quality, and renewable fuels more accessible.
NanosTech’s latest innovation focuses on an emerging cleantech solution: hydrogen fuel, which, when burned, produces only water as a byproduct. This fuel is produced through steam methane reforming, which uses water to split waste methane from refineries into hydrogen and a carbon monoxide byproduct. Traditional steam reforming can be relatively energy-intensive, involving large volumes of high-temperature steam (usually over 800°C), but NanosTech catalyst can reduce the temperature of the reaction required to less than 500°C. It also decreases the amount of natural gas needed to heat the steam, lowering overall emissions. Thanks to NanosTech catalyst, the carbon waste produced can be turned into carbon nanofibers, a highly sought-after material for medical and technological applications.
