Pipeline Crawler System
Pipeline Crawlers are designed to produce high quality panoramic radiographs of circumferential butt welds in new pipelines with an internal diameter between 9.5” to 48” (240mm to 1220mm). The remote handset allows external control and monitoring of the crawler whilst it is being operated within the pipe. The handset is used to configure both the crawler and X-Ray generator prior to placing it into the pipe. High production levels can be achieved with this set up and may be enhanced by RTR and CR techniques that avoid extended processing of film.
Magnetic tracking devices are integrated into the system to allow location and tracking to be undertaken.

Buffalo Inspection Services are using this X-Ray crawler radiographic technology for our NDE inspection on our new pipeline projects. This X-Ray radiographic testing will be used for the detection of cracks and volumetric or external discontinuities in welds. Buffalo have ISO 9712 qualified inspectors for the job with additional ISO certified competencies in CR/DR techniques, and maintain the highest level of quality, health, safety and environmental management.
