History with Discovery Solutions
While PCM itself hasn’t been a direct customer of Discovery Solutions for two decades, our partnership spans nearly that long through a series of key acquisitions. It all began with Europump, a Discovery customer later acquired by Halliburton. When PCM took over Halliburton’s Progressing Cavity Pump Business Line, they continued to leverage Discovery’s software, seamlessly integrating it into their growing operations.
Throughout this long-standing partnership, which initially began in 2006, Europump, Halliburton and PCM have utilized the DMS ERP software to support their operations through multiple stages of significant growth. Below is a brief summary of highlights:
Initial Implementation
Discovery’s platform was first implemented to streamline accounting and manufacturing processes, with a focus on improving operational efficiency. The decision to adopt DMS ERP was driven by its unique industry-specific capabilities, which other software providers did not offer. Discovery’s in-house implementation team worked closely with management to ensure a seamless transition from their previous system. This integration introduced key features like fixed asset tracking and automated depreciation, which significantly enhanced efficiency from the start.
Scaling Operations
In recent years, PCM has significantly expanded its operations within Canada. Noteworthy milestones include:
- 2014: PCM acquired Amik Oilfield Equipment & Rentals, including branches in Lloydminster, Bonnyville, and Edmonton, Alberta. Since then, PCM has opened two additional branches in Macklin, Saskatchewan, and Slave Lake, Alberta.
- 2019: PCM successfully acquired Cougar Machine Ltd and Cougar Wellhead Services Inc.
- 2020: PCM further expanded by acquiring Europump and Halliburton Energy Services’ Progressing Cavity Pump Business Line.
Challenge
As PCM expanded its footprint, headcount, and overall operations, they needed DMS ERP to scale accordingly to maintain operational efficiency. After detailed discussions with the dedicated team at Discovery Solutions, PCM identified several additional features and functionalities they required, including unlimited corporate entities, multiple currencies, labor and consumables tracking, in-depth management reporting, and real-time inventory management.
Solution
DMS ERP’s scalable architecture and comprehensive features made it the ideal solution to meet PCM’s evolving needs. Discovery prides themselves on constant innovation to meet the growing needs of companies such as PCM. As a result, PCM will soon begin integrating Discovery’s latest web-based, real-time data solutions, including the Field Service and recently upgraded Manufacturing OPS modules. These modules are the perfect solution to address PCM’s growing pains as they offer enhanced automation, realtime monitoring, and an advanced user interface to optimize field service and shop floor operations.
Additionally, key features like fixed asset tracking, automated depreciation, serial tracking for inventory and work orders, and robust revenue and cost of goods reporting have been essential in supporting PCM’s operational needs and ensures seamless data analysis and enhanced traceability across their business.

PCM values Discovery’s ability to deliver customized experiences, enabling each user to navigate the system through personalized tiles tailored to their specific roles and responsibilities.
