CALGARY – The Government of Canada must not impose anymore unnecessary delays to the
construction of the Trans Mountain Pipeline, says the President of the Calgary Chamber.
While encouraged by today’s public interest determination, Sandip Lalli says it is of vital
importance to Canada’s natural resources and the broader Canadian economy that the project is
approved by Cabinet within the 90-day legislated timeline.

“We can’t afford to rag the puck any further on a project that has now twice been deemed in the
public interest of Canadians,” said Lalli. “Delays in getting our responsibly-produced resources to market impacts all Canadian
households relying on jobs and tax revenues the industry creates from coast to coast.

“We continue to see negative impacts to jobs and investment in Canada due to the uncertainty
caused by major project delays.

“It’s time we stand up and show that Canada is open for business.”
