Fort McMurray, AB – September 9, 2025 – Oil Sands Expo marks a major milestone in 2025, celebrating its 40th Anniversary at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre on September 10 & 11, 2025. For four decades, this event has been the premier gathering place for Canada’s oil sands industry, bringing together thousands of frontline workers, operators, executives, and suppliers to showcase innovation, exchange knowledge, and strengthen industry connections.
This year’s event promises to be the most dynamic yet, highlighting the Expo’s legacy of uniting the people, the projects, and the passion that define the oil sands sector. With more than 175 exhibitors and 50+ free conference presentations across three theatres, attendees will gain direct access to the latest technologies, products, and services shaping the industry.
Event Highlights
The Big Party – 1980’s Theme (September 10): Step back in time with a live DJ, themed food, and interactive games from the past in a celebration of the Expo’s founding decade. Tickets are available at oilsandsexpo.com
FREE Tailgate Party (September 11, 2:00–4:00 pm): Join the industry for food, networking, and celebration as Mayor Sandy Bowman of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo delivers special congratulations on this 40-year achievement. FREE TO ATTEND. Community welcome!
FREE Conference Program: Over 50 free-to-attend technical presentations in three theatres, open to all industry professionals.

Special Guests & Messages
The Expo will welcome Hon. Rebecca Shulz, Minister of Environment and Protected Areas, and Hon. Brian Jean, Minister of Energy & Minerals, both from the Government of Alberta. MLA Tany Yao will be speaking on a panel that includes Suncor Energy, discussing Alberta as an opportunity hub.
