Concrete structures exposed to harsh weather, freeze-thaw cycles, and industrial chemicals face significant deterioration over time.
By utilizing advanced waterproofing solutions, such as Penetron Crystalline Technology and Polyurethane Coatings, we can safeguard concrete against moisture, chemical infiltration, and structural erosion.
PROBLEM
- Below and above ground concrete that is exposed to severe weather patterns throughout the year. Freeze – Thaw cycles causing micro fractures, allowing moisture to penetrate the substrate which attacks the rebar used for internal structure reinforcement. Honeycombing, spalling, pitting, fracturing that runs throughout the structure are all issues that can happen over time if left untreated.
- Produced water, and other chemicals saturating through the concrete will eventually migrate into the surrounding environment. Concrete is porous and thus acts as a sponge which soaks up chemicals exposed to untreated concrete. These chemicals not only lead to further deterioration of the internal structure of the concrete but also can cause major environmental damage and clean-up costs if left unabated.

SOLUTION
Waterproof the concrete with Penetron Crystaline Technologies. This product uses the water, calcium hydroxide, and aluminum that are present within the concrete, to grow insoluble crystals throughout the pours, capillaries and pathways of the concrete to force out the water and eventually dry out the concrete – even with high hydrostatic head pressure. As a result, the concrete becomes waterproofed even when application is applied to the negative side of the concrete.
- Prevention of further concrete deterioration due to freeze-thaw cycles, because of the lack of water in the formation.
- Erosion of internal rebar re-enforcement is prevented, thereby adding to the longevity of the structure.
- Penetron applied to existing and new concrete helps to increase the structural strength of the structure.
Benefits of this include:
Coating the exposed side of the concrete to prevent chemical exposure and saturation. By applying a chemically resistant coating to the exposed surface of the concrete, such as a sprayed Polyurethane coating: you are preventing any contaminants from entering into the sponge like internal structure of the concrete and preventing it from migrating into the surrounding environment.
