Standard security systems can be used for leak detection on most locations and applications, but there are times when you want to be able to react faster.
The use of a thermal camera can significantly increase your leak detection ability and reaction time when dealing with a process that has a different temperature than the local ambient. An HSI Security thermal camera can be programmed to watch for a change in temperature, and then send an immediate notification to the operator or manager.
Notifications can be sent via push notification, text, or email, and then are instantaneously sent upon leak detection, allowing the operator to respond in a timely manner.
This is particularly useful on high-risk assets, whether that be piping that is nearing the end of its life, or a process that is prone to failure. Common current usages include tanks, production pipelines, thermal lines, pumpjacks, water injectors, well heads, and more. Steam applications work especially well for this security system, as the high temperature jumps right out on camera.
Using thermal to detect for leaks can turn what would been a major environmental remediation into a simple clean-up with a shovel. The longer a leak persists, the more expensive it becomes, meaning a preventative tool like the HSI Security system can quickly pay for itself.
