Canada’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan: Have Your Say on the Future of Canada – Take Action: Deadline Extended to January 21, 2022

After receiving over 20,000 submissions, the federal government extended the engagement period on Canada’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP) by a week. It now closes at 11:59 p.m. PST on January 21st.

The 2030 ERP will outline how the federal government plans to meet their goal – which was recently increased – to reducing Canadian emissions by 40-45% below 2005 levels by 2030.

Why was Canada’s target increased?

Because these consultations matter.

In March 2021, the government ran a similar engagement to help inform their more ambitious 2030 goals. And according to the government, of the ~1,100 people who responded, over 95% supported their more ambitious direction. Later in June, these targets were enshrined into law with passing of the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act.

This your chance to have your say on the future of Canada.

It’s hard to understate just how impactful the ERP will be to every area of our economy. In addition to implementing a cap on natural gas and oil emissions, the plan will also outline new regulations for electricity, buildings, and agriculture, among others.

So, thank you for taking the time out of your day to make a submission on this page in support of a stronger Canada. Your voice matters.
