A 55′ x 60′ insulated warehouse for a construction company in northern Manitoba.
The Canadian mining industry relies on durable, portable structures that are quick to install, even in remote areas. Companies like Cobra Structures offer pre-packaged buildings that check off all of these boxes and more.
Cobra erects these buildings on a variety of portable and temporary foundation styles. This gives mining companies the flexibility to operate, relocate, or deconstruct a building when finished at the job site.
As per the below examples, Cobra Structures organizes self-sufficient projects. This includes arranging their own transportation, hiring local employees, and managing all aspects of the worksite. This way, clients continue their operations without hassle and receive a turnkey building.

Project Description
Working with a single company when designing a maintenance facility with controlled features saves both time and costs. It’s why Cobra Structures as an organization has evolved into a full turnkey provider with structure, mechanical, and construction divisions. It’s also why this client chose Cobra for their building needs in northern Manitoba.
Understanding the Client’s Needs
Together, Cobra worked with the client to engineer a new 3,300 square foot fabric structure warehouse. The 55’ x 60’ building came with several customizations, per the client’s requests.
They client needed a freespan building with plenty of height to allow employees to operate forklifts and other machinery. They also needed the warehouse to withstand the northern Canadian winters. And lastly, they wanted to maximize their storage space.

Cobra Mechanical presented the client with lighting and ventilation services.
Fabric Building Customizations
The building profile met the client’s needs, as did the 16′ x 16′ overhead door with a chain hoist. When it came to withstanding the extreme Canadian winters, Cobra presented the client with their controlled features in conjunction with Cobra Mechanical and their services.
For starters, Cobra’s installers fully insulated the warehouse (R-30 insulation). Then their mechanical division hooked up a 60-amp sub electrical panel to feed off an existing building, and installed a lighting package including two exterior floodlights mounted on the front of a shipping container. To improve ventilation, they also installed two ceiling fans with four service plugs installed on a shipping container.
When it came to maximizing storage space, a shipping container foundation was a perfect solution. Before shipping to site, Cobra’s installers pre-fabricated two 8’ x 40’ containers and two 8 x 20’ containers. This created an additional 960 square feet of storage space. After delivering the containers to site, they installed the 55’ x 60’ frame made of durable, hot-dipped galvanized steel trusses and a fabric cover.

The client is currently using the shipping containers for their tools and supplies.
Finished Warehouse, Building Package
Within two weeks, the client had a new insulated warehouse. They have since used the shipping container foundation as storage for tires and other machinery. With this maintenance facility being suitable for any mining or industrial company, Cobra’s now offering it as a package building. These pre-designed packages are meant to make your planning process easier, while still offering customizations within each building.
Feature Project 2: Wash Bay

The wash bay is a cost-effective, turnkey building solution.
Service: Supply, delivery & turnkey installation
Application: Equipment warehouse
Size: 72’ wide x 70’ long free-span warehouse (5,040 square feet), 1 8′ x 40′ container with 2 doors, 1 8′ x 30′ container with 1 door

Project Description
Last winter Cobra delivered a shipping container wash bay to a mining site in the Canadian Prairies. This project was a collaborative effort between all four divisions of Cobra Enterprises. Upon arrival, Cobra’s building installers contributed by erecting the fabric building cover overtop the equipment wash bay.
Divisional Work Breakdown
- Cobra Construction completed the shipping container prefabrication
- Bison Modular Homes supplied the shipping container foundation as well as the structural design and material
- Cobra Mechanical installed all of the building’s electrical and heating systems (at their production shop and on-site)
- Cobra Structures supplied and installed the 72′ x 70′ fabric building cover

Cobra Mechanical travelled to site to complete final service connections.
