The rig count in Western Canada decreased by 10 this week to 212, according to data collected by Baker Hughes for the week ending September 8th.
Last year at this time, only 132 rigs were active.
From one week ago, Alberta rig counts decreased to 141 rigs from 134, the Saskatchewan rig count increased to 43 from 36. The B.C. rig count decreased to 24 from 27. Manitoba’s 4 rigs made up the difference.
Oil drilling increased to 112 rigs from 102 rigs; gas rigs remained at 100.
