At Fluor Canada, creating a culture of environmental awareness in the workplace is an important part of our commitment to sustainability, and a significant pillar in our promise to aid in building a better world. Sustainability is not simply a goal we work toward, it is something we strive to embed into the everyday experiences of our employees, our workplace and the communities where we operate.
Being recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2026 reflects this commitment and, more importantly, the people behind it. Across Fluor, employees are encouraged to think about how their everyday actions can contribute to a more sustainable future – from sharing ideas and participating in environmental initiatives, to finding new ways to improve how we use energy resources. Sustainability is brought to life through our employees, through innovation, volunteerism and a shared dedication to creating a greener future.
Building a culture of sustainability starts with providing opportunities for employees to participate and make a difference. At Fluor, we continue to look for practical ways to make our offices more sustainable, while creating environments where employees can experience and participate in those efforts. We understand that meaningful environmental progress cannot be achieved through technology and infrastructure alone; it also requires people who are willing to ask questions, share ideas and turn those ideas into action. This approach helps foster a culture where sustainability becomes part of everyday thinking.
Fluor Canada’s Sustainability Task Force is an employee-led team that provides a space for team members to collaborate, identify opportunities and encourage sustainable practices across the organization. From implementing energy efficient lighting in office spaces to sponsoring build of a three-season greenhouse, the sustainability task force has successfully spearheaded initiatives that have truly made an impact.
The strength of Fluor’s sustainability efforts lies in the engagement and enthusiasm of its employees. As Danielle, a member of the Sustainability Task Force, noted:

Sustainability does not always have to involve a large-scale transformation. It can begin by looking at the familiar and asking how it can be done differently. This mindset then extends beyond the workplace to the communities where our employees live through initiatives such as community cleanups and tree planting activities. Each initiative may be one small action, but together they contribute to a larger culture of environmental awareness, where sustainability becomes a shared way of thinking.
Fluor’s recognition as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers is not an endpoint but a reflection of what we have built. The focus now is to continue building on the culture that made this recognition possible. This means creating more opportunities for employees to participate, listening to ideas across the organization and finding practical ways to put those ideas into action.
