Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:
HBC
Hudson’s Bay is expected to return to court Tuesday to seek permission to extend its creditor protection, currently in place until May 15, to July 31. It will also ask for permission to repay as much as $165 million to its senior lenders.
CAE results
CAE Inc. will release its fourth-quarter and full-year financial results on Tuesday after markets close followed by a conference call Wednesday morning. The company shook up its board earlier this year with the appointment of four new directors including Peter Lee, co-founder and partner at activist investor Browning West.
Business conference
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce will host the Business 7 (B7) conference in Ottawa starting Wednesday evening. The meeting will bring together senior business leaders, policy-makers and industry experts from across the G7. It is expected to hear from Pete Hoekstra, the U.S. ambassador to Canada, on Friday.
Home sales
The Canadian Real Estate Association will release its April sales figures on Thursday. The results come as U.S. tariff uncertainty puts a damper on home sales across Canada.
South Bow results
South Bow Corp. will release its first-quarter financial results after the close of markets on Thursday followed by a conference call with investors and financial analysts on Friday. The company suffered a leak from its Keystone pipeline in April that saw the release of 556,000 litres of oil in North Dakota.
