Canada Regulator Says Trans Mountain Plans Maintenance on Exposed Pipeline

The Canada Energy Regulator (CER) on Tuesday said Trans Mountain Corp plans to conduct maintenance activities for an exposed segment of an oil pipeline at a historically armored crossing of a non-fish bearing stream.

The maintenance is to provide interim protection for a pipe that was exposed during floods in 2021.

Trans Mountain has been monitoring the crossing as part of its Natural Hazard program. These works are being conducted in response to findings from a recent geohazard assessment and recommendations to provide interim measures to protect the pipeline through the fall and winter months, the CER said.
