The Gussow 2024 conference, “Montney Subsurface Evaluation: Drive Towards Excellence,” will feature a single-track program focused on the latest technical advancements across diverse multidisciplinary geotechnical areas within the Montney Formation. Given its unique opportunity to act as a secure national energy source, economic deposit for global companies, and a resource to aid in the energy transition, a proper understanding of the Montney subsurface is required to unleash its full potential. This event is hosted by the Canadian Energy Geoscience Association (CEGA), an association dedicated to fostering innovation and excellence in energy geoscience.
Pre-Gussow Field Trip
On October 1, 2024, Per K. Pedersen will lead a pre-Gussow field trip titled “Montney Sedimentary Facies and Environments and Relation to Fractures.” Participants will explore outcrops in the Canmore and Banff areas, including a 50m-long core of the Sulphur Mountain Formation, equivalent to the Montney Formation. The trip will cover Montney sedimentary facies, depositional environments, fracture stratigraphy, and the relationship of natural fractures to mechanical beds. This easy hike, with minimal elevation gain, includes transportation, lunch, and water. Note that this field trip requires an add-on registration in addition to the conference. Registration for Gussow 2024 is open! Online registration closes on September 27, 2024 and our Early Bird Rates end on September 13, 2024. Full conference registration includes two and a half days of technical talks and poster presentations, 2 days of breakfast and 3 days of lunch and coffee breaks throughout the conference. Registration also includes access to 2 networking receptions (October 2 & 3- food and drink included). Registration does not include accommodation at the Banff Park Lodge.
