Canada’s Weekly Rig Count Currently Stands at 199

Of the 199 rigs, 55% are currently drilling for oil, 33% are drilling for natural gas and 5% are drilling for helium, hydrogen, geothermal, lithium or potash.  7% of the active rigs are currently moving locations.  By province, 77% of the rigs are in Alberta, 12% are in Saskatchewan, 9% in BC and 2% are in Manitoba.

In term of market share, Precision Drilling holds the majority  with 34%, Ensign Drilling is next with 22%, followed by Savanna Drilling with 9%, Stampede Drilling with 7%, Horizon Drilling with 6%, and Bonanza Drilling with 5%.
