With the ELD Mandate deadline of December 17th looming, if you haven’t begun researching ELD providers, the time is now. It may be tempting to start by looking at the list of devices that are self-certified on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) website, but, unfortunately, these devices may not meet the requirements of the ELD Mandate.

“One of the most important things to keep in mind as you choose an ELD provider and system is that the agency does not verify that the devices are compliant,” says Lockridge.
To certify an ELD platform companies conduct their own tests and claim that they are compliant, but in reality, a provider on this list may be pulled from it because they are non-compliant.

Many new companies are appearing in the electronic logging device market due to the opportunity of the ELD mandate, but you should be careful of choosing a new provider.
