South Bow Reports Profit of US$134 Million in Q2, Up From Last Year

South Bow Corp. reported net income of US$134 million in its second quarter, up from US$96 million during the same period a year earlier.

The Calgary-based pipeline operator says its earnings amounted to 64 cents US per share in the quarter ending June 30, up from 46 cents US last year.

South Bow says revenue during the quarter reached US$546 million, up from US$524 million a year earlier.

The company had average throughput of 596,000 barrels per day on its Keystone pipeline during the period and 800,000 barrels per day on the U.S. Gulf Coast segment of the Keystone pipeline system.

The company says it saw higher demand for capacity on its Keystone system on the U.S. Gulf Coast as conflict in the Middle East disrupted global oil trade flows.

That higher demand has led to falling crude inventories in Cushing, Okla., causing pricing differentials to tighten. As a result, South Bow expects demand on Keystone in the U.S. Gulf to moderate in the second half of the year.
