Winterhawk Well Abandonment Sells Minority Stake and Issues Exclusive U.S. Patent License to Plants & Goodwin Inc, a Subsidiary of Zefiro Methane Corp.
CALGARY, AB August 29, 2024 – Winterhawk Well Abandonment Ltd. (“Winterhawk”) announces the sale of a minority ownership interest for an undisclosed amount to Zefiro Methane through its subsidiary Plants & Goodwin Inc. (“P&G”). The transaction grants P&G the exclusive U.S. patent license of Winterhawk’s casing-expansion technology (“Exclusive License Agreement”).

Winterhawk is a privately held Calgary-based technology company that has developed and patented specialized wellbore remediation and environmental protection tools for the oil and natural gas industry. With its Casing Expansion Tool (“CET”) Winterhawk can seal methane leak pathways (“surface casing vent flow” or “SCVF”) through controlled casing expansion. This technology is revolutionizing the remediation of older wells that have developed leaks due to shrinkage and cracking of the original annular cement seal, or poor primary cement integrity.

The Exclusive License Agreement with Winterhawk allows P&G to use Winterhawk’s U.S. patent. The agreement will position P&G as the only company that can use, deploy, distribute, offer for sale, sell or otherwise dispose Winterhawk’s CET and other covered products (“Winterhawk Products”) on project sites in the United States. The Exclusive License Agreement also allows P&G to sublicense Winterhawk Products to other entities operating in the United States which can generate additional revenue for both P&G and Winterhawk.
