WINNIPEG — The Manitoba government is extending the provincial fuel-tax holiday until the end of the year.
It’s the second time the government has extended the temporary tax break since introducing it in January.
The suspension of the 14-cents-a-litre tax was set to expire at the end of the month.
Premier Wab Kinew says the tax holiday on gasoline and diesel for motor vehicles will be extended until Dec. 31.
It was among the first measures the NDP government enacted after winning the provincial election last October, as a way to help people with the rising cost of living.
Kinew says the tax break saves pickup truck drivers about $14 every time they fuel up.
“We know Manitobans are still struggling with the impact of interest rates and grocery prices, so we’re going to continue to step up,” Kinew said in a release Wednesday.
