On May 10th Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA), a provincial agency, announced its 2024 call for projects to apply for the $50 million available this year for the Industrial Transformation Challenge (ITC). The program was begun in 2022 and has become an annual funding opportunity. The money is designed to catalyze innovation and reduce emissions throughout Alberta industry. ITC helps to make a reality of the province’s commitment to clean tech solutions to decarbonize industrial sectors.
Funding is open to applicants from across Alberta’s industrial sectors, including, but not limited to, petrochemical, agriculture, forest products, manufacturing, and energy. Funds are sourced from the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) fund.
Highlights of ITC are:
- An annual funding call each spring.
- Open to all categories of lead applicants, including innovators and technology developers with a clear value proposition for the province.
- Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are invited for projects that will advance technology to the stages of field pilot, demonstration, or first-of-kind commercial implementation by project completion.
Successful applicants are eligible for up to $10 million per project with a minimum request of $500,000. The application deadline is Tuesday, June 4, 2024, 5:00 PM MDT (UTC-6h).
