If you’re an oil and gas employer who cares about the industry’s labour market issues – we want to hear from you!
Each year, the Workforce Trends Survey conducted by PetroLMI allows organizations in the oil and gas industry to share important information about hiring challenges and specific workforce needs. The more respondents the survey receives, the more complete and useful the data becomes. Workforce trends help identify solutions to the industry’s current and short-term labour issues and needs:
- Your organization can use the information to plan/adjust your retention and recruitment strategies and activities.
- Governments can use the findings to evaluate policies and programs that impact industry activities and the oil and gas workforce.
- Labour supply stakeholders respond to the current and short-term needs of the oil and gas industry.
- Job seekers will have a better understanding of the current conditions and recruitment activities of companies and are able to conduct a more effective job search in the oil and gas industry.
How long will it take and what about my privacy?
Rest assured, all completed surveys will be confidential and no information in the survey report will be attributed to a specific participant and/or organization. We are seeking only readily available and accessible information regarding your Canadian oil and gas operations and the survey should be quick to complete – taking no more than 15 minutes.
As a bonus, you can choose to receive the survey results prior to any public release by providing your email address at the end of the survey. Your email address will not be disclosed to third parties nor will it be associated with your responses to the survey questions.

PetroLMI, a division of Energy Safety Canada is a leading resource for labour market information (LMI) and trends in the Canadian oil and gas industry. We currently produce two types of LMI. Our forecasts use a proprietary labour market modelling system and are produced annually. They provide analysis and insight regarding longer-term employment requirements, hiring projections and labour supply for Canada’s oil and gas industry. Our demographic information uses current or historical data collected from industry and other sources. We explore workforce conditions and demographic trends within the industry.
