Ryan & Dwight

On March 16th, 2019 Dwight and TaraLynn Bulloch of Capstone Oilfield Services Ltd. (Capstone) attended the 16th Annual Parents Quest for the Cure Gala in Calgary. This annual event raises money for Kids Cancer Care and not only were they impressed with how well the evening was organized, they were truly inspired by the speakers who shared their stories with for the attendees.

“Cancer has touched everyone I know in some way, and I have lost more people I care about to the disease than anything else, so it was impossible for me not to be emotional and deeply moved by the strength of the young parents who took the stage to share their story of losing their young daughter,” said Dwight.

After those brave folks left the stage and the evening carried on with raising money, he was left feeling that he needed to do more than buy some dinner tickets and bid on auction items. He needed to do something ongoing and meaningful, and decided at that dinner table, that as the President of Capstone, he would ask his company to help fight cancer directly. While brainstorming how they could help, it occurred to him that the core business of Capstone is our abandonment of inactive wells and that the backlog of inactive wells in western Canada had been called a cancer. And that is how they came up with our plan to partner with Alberta Cancer Foundation and to be their first corporate sponsor of the Albertans Helping Albertans initiative.

“Capstone has committed to make a donation to this new initiative for every well we abandon in the province of Alberta. And our subsidiary, Doull Site Assessments Ltd. (DSA), will be making a donation for every well site they test for gas migration or surface casing vent flow,” said Bulloch. He continued, “Last quarter, we tallied up the number of wells and made our first donation. Like myself, and I suspect all of us, the entire Capstone/DSA team has been impacted by cancer dearly and we are all excited to be doing something to help.”

“Capstone is proud to be the first business contributor to this important program for the Alberta Cancer foundation, and we’re happy to continue with our quarterly donation this month,” Dwight concluded.

Capstone and DSA have now contributed $16,542.50 to the program for their work they’ve performed from January through September 2019.
