Calgary, Alberta, November 22, 2016 – Randy Freeborn, Chief Research Engineer with Energy Navigator, and one of the key technical contributors to industry-leading Value Navigator economics and reserves software, has been asked to share his expertise in Type Well creation with international audiences as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer for 2016-17. Mr. Freeborn, a Petroleum Engineer with over 40 years’ experience has already presented his talk, entitled “Two Vital Secrets for Building Better Type Wells”, to North American oil and gas industry audiences in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Colorado, Alabama, Louisiana, several locations across Texas, and California. In early 2017, he will present to SPE groups in Romania, Norway, Switzerland, Uganda, and Angola.

Every year, SPE (The Society of Petroleum Engineers – the largest individual-member organization serving upstream oil and gas managers, engineers, scientists, and other professionals worldwide) selects a group of experts to share their expertise with Society members through lectures given at local SPE section meetings. The lectures cover a variety of critical topics for the energy industry.

“We are so proud that Randy has been recognized as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer for 2016-17,” said Energy Navigator President and CEO, Boyd Russell.  “It is a testament to the personal integrity and commitment he brings to the petroleum engineering profession. Randy’s dedication to continually expand the boundaries of industry knowledge through research is reflected in the superior capabilities of our Value Navigator economics and reserves software system.”

In addition to his SPE tour, Mr. Freeborn is available to present his talk to other industry groups or upstream companies. A three-part lunch & learn series is also planned for Februay-March of 2017 at the company’s head office in Calgary. Inquiries can be directed to Gordon Hawker, Director of Marketing, at the address below.

Mr. Freeborn is the third Energy Navigator team member to receive this honor. Research Fellow Dr. W. John Lee, and Industry Advisor on Reserves Management Mr. Rod Sidle, have both been previous SPE Distinguished Lecturers.
