Scheduled for 25-26 September 2025 in Alberta, the Pioneering Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in Western Canada returns for its second edition, following the success of the inaugural event in Edmonton.
This year’s forum will focus on the transformative role SMRs can play in shaping the future of energy in Western Canada. The forum will highlight Indigenous partnerships, decarbonization, and economic innovation, emphasizing collaboration, equity, and inclusivity as key drivers in advancing clean energy solutions.
As Canada continues its transition to a low-carbon future, SMRs present an innovative opportunity to balance existing energy infrastructure with sustainable, clean energy solutions. SMRs offer a path to decarbonize industries, power remote and Indigenous communities, and create sustainable economic opportunities. With the global SMR market expected to reach $150 billion to $300 billion annually by 2040, Canada is well-positioned to lead this rapidly growing sector, with the Prairie provinces playing a central role in the development, manufacturing, and deployment of SMRs.
