The annual Core Conference, CEGA’s premier rock-focused event, provides a relaxed and collaborative platform for the geoscience community to exchange insights and showcase technical work. Inspired by this spirit of collaboration, this year’s theme is “Establishing Connections: The Interplay of Rocks, Energy, and People.” Our presenters include renowned experts from Canadian university programs as well as seasoned industry professionals with decades of experience in natural resource development. Since its inception in 1969, the Core Conference has stood as a world-class event where geoscientists gather to examine hundreds of meters of core, share valuable technical knowledge, and connect in an informal setting—where the rocks speak for themselves.
The Core Conference technical program, now available, presents a comprehensive lineup of twenty-one unique presentations, highlighting the breadth and depth of geoscientific research. This year’s program will feature familiar topics, including the characterization of the Montney and Duvernay plays, alongside explorations of stratigraphic frameworks, spanning studies from the Devonian Elk Point Basin to the Athabasca Oil Sands. In addition, we’ll delve into advanced reservoir characterization, covering energy storage and sequestration techniques such as halite caverns, helium reservoirs, and CO2 sequestration in coal seams. The program will also take a deep dive into the subsurface, showcasing the reservoir properties of the Basal Cambrian complex and various basement rocks. Access the technical program today and prepare for an enriching and insightful experience.
Registration for Core Conference is officially open. Full conference registration includes access to two-days of technical talks and core displays, coffee breaks, BBQ lunch on both days and one ticket to the Core Meltdown. Early registration is encouraged to take advantage of discounted rates and ensure availability.
