Calgary, AB (June 26, 2019) – Last week microbiology and molecular biology thought leaders came together in Halifax at the International Symposium on Applied Microbiology and Molecular Biology in Oil Systems (ISMOS-7) – the largest event in its sector in the oil and gas industry.
STEP Energy Services’ laboratory manager, Darren Maley, took part in a poster forum with OSP’s applications microbiologist, Marc Demeter, to discuss a comprehensive microbial assessment of hydraulic fracturing stimulation using next level microbial DNA testing methods.
Mr. Maley and Mr. Demeter’s poster forum addressed:
- problems associated with the use of recycled and produced water;
- the consequences of ineffective treatment of bacteria in both upstream and downstream operations;
- different types of bacteria testing methods, uses, limitations and effectiveness; and
- how operators can mitigate their risks by using the appropriate treatment.
Ultimately, there’s no silver bullet when it comes to microbial testing technology, but STEP can help. For your customized solution, or to speak to one of our laboratory experts, please email sales@step-es.com.
If you missed us in Halifax, more information will be presented and published at the Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Calgary from September 30 – October 2, where STEP will also have a booth.
