Recently, the University of Calgary Law Faculty hosted a panel entitled “Some Sober Second Thoughts: Debunking the myths and clarifying the impact of Bill C-69” – perhaps a take off on the fact that the Canadian Senate is now reviewing this contentious legislation and the Senate is supposed to offer Canadians a ‘sober second thought.’ Though a fundamental tenet of law is that of fair trial, this panel did not include an industry representative from oil and gas (though one lawyer did work with industry). Friends of Science Society does not support Bill C-69. https://blog.friendsofscience.org/201… It is our view that foreign-funded ENGOs have had too much influence and one group in particular has made a special effort to smear the 60 year reputation of the National Energy Board of Canada, which has provided excellence in infrastructure and clear, fair, fact-based regulatory review for infrastructure projects. See what you think. We were particularly disappointed that one party mentioned, Rick Peterson, founder of Suits and Boots, was not even informed or invited to defend his views on Bill C-69. We like their music video and hope you will too. To better appreciate what the Suits and Boots grassroots group is up against, in terms of financial and political influence, please review our post “Money Matters – the ENGO Political Advantage.” https://blog.friendsofscience.org/201…
