GLJ is proud to welcome Erfan Sarvaramini, Ph.D., to our team. Dr. Sarvaramini brings in-house expertise in Hydraulic Fracturing and Reservoir Geomechanics to GLJ and our clients.

Dr. Sarvaramini received his Ph.D. in Geomechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University with on a focus on the hydraulic fracturing (HF) modeling and characterization of tight hydrocarbon reservoirs in Western Canada. For the past decade, Dr. Sarvaramini has been extensively involved in the development of novel simulation technologies for characterizing the geomechanical behavior of hydraulically stimulated reservoirs and deep underground wastewater disposals.

Prior to joining GLJ, Dr. Sarvaramini completed two years of postdoctoral studies at the University of Waterloo where he developed a new paradigm for modelling of HF with the ability for integration into reservoir simulation programs. The outcome of Dr. Sarvaramini’s work is currently implemented in the form of a fully-coupled 3D geomechanics Stimulated Reservoir Volume (SRV) simulator.

Dr. Sarvaramini has presented his contributions to the field of geomechanics and hydraulic fracturing at over 30 international conferences, and authored several journal articles in a number of internationally recognized publications. He will represent GLJ at the upcoming SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference in February, 2019.

In addition to providing reservoir engineering evaluation services, Dr. Sarvaramini will focus on progressively developing and applying hydraulic fracturing models and delivering new technical services in HF optimization to our clients and industry. This will support unconventional plays including tight and shale play development optimization efforts, thermal project development optimization focused on increased margins including reduced emissions, and technological advancement within our industry.
