Adding to the excitement of National Indigenous Peoples Day, local event organizers, Connect Partnership Group, are pleased to share the news about Forward Summit; a national, cross-industry discussion to drive meaningful change and strengthen relationships between Indigenous Peoples and the business community.

This two-day summit will launch at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre in February 2019 and will be led by Indigenous voices from across Canada. The event will focus on workforce and economic development, from both the communities’ and Industry perspectives. From an Indigenous viewpoint, gaining access to the resources that develop healthy and workready communities is key. For Industry, it’s essential to identify the opportunities that can emerge by engaging with an Indigenous workforce, and to uncover the best practices for integrating cultural diversity into their organizations. We will look at the successes that can be had when we all work together and respect each other.

Forward Summit is inclusive, and all are welcome to explore opportunities across many industries; from LNG, Oil, and Mining, to Forestry, Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Gaming, and Tourism.

Some of the most significant conversations in modern Canada will take place during roundtable discussions and workshops lead by experienced, knowledgeable, and dynamic speakers. Topics will include:

  • Attracting and retaining Indigenous workers.
  • Building successful economic partnerships between Indigenous communities and non-Indigenous companies.
  • Creating equal opportunity to employment and training.
  • Indigepreneurship, financing, and planning.
  • Market access.
  • Establishing joint ventures.
  • Aboriginal Awareness Training.

Partners recently added to the Forward Summit roster include Straight Talk Aboriginal Awareness Training, the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, Stoney Nakoda Nation, WāVv Business Development, Pimee Well Services, and The Impact Society.
