Nominations are Now Open for the 2017 Small Business Week Calgary Awards

CALGARY – As a way to help businesses in a challenging economic time and to celebrate the best of business in Calgary, the Chamber is pleased to announce that nominations for this year’s Small Business Week Calgary Awards are now open at www.SmallBusinessWeekCalgary.com.

“Small and medium enterprises have been quick to adapt to our changed economy; they are innovating, exploring new business lines and are doing good in the world. These are the strategies that are proving the most successful for business today,” says Adam Legge, President & CEO of the Calgary Chamber.

Despite a tough couple of years, Calgary remains the entrepreneurial capital of Canada, with the most entrepreneurial businesses per capita than anywhere else in the country.

“Small Business Week is a key opportunity for us to celebrate entrepreneurship and the incredible businesses in Calgary.  Small and medium sized businesses are essential to driving our economy forward – the entrepreneurs behind them provide employment, innovation, and products and services that make Calgary a world class place to be, ” says Teresa Clouston, Executive Vice President, ATB Business & Agriculture. “ATB is proud to partner with the Calgary Chamber on Small Business Week to recognize businesses in Calgary through the awards program.”

“Calgary entrepreneurs are resilient, innovative and ambitious! We’ve seen new companies start-up and existing businesses that have survived the worst of the most recent downturn are experiencing improved sales through innovation, finding new markets, diversifying their products and services and hard work. We are now seeing renewed business investment in equipment, technology and property,” says Michael Selci, Senior Vice President for the Prairies at BDC. “At BDC, we salute the very important contribution of entrepreneurs to the provincial economy and look forward to recognizing them during this year’s Small Business Week.”

“The Small Business Week Calgary Awards are the most extensive small business awards in the country,” says Legge. “I’m especially proud that wining these awards has often helped catapult businesses to tremendous growth in the past.”
