SPE Distinguished lecturers Lee, Freeborn, and Sidle to teach course in Calgary and The Woodlands
Calgary, AB, Canada, April 24, 2017 – Each year, companies use typical well production profiles (type wells) to support billion-dollar expenditures to buy and develop oil and gas resources. Unfortunately, these type wells can often have unrepresentative rate-time profiles and recoveries over-stated by as much as 50%. Recently published studies have identified those type well creation practices that will enhance accuracy and those that are best avoided. A new course created by petroleum reservoir engineering experts Dr. W. John Lee, Mr. Randy Freeborn, and Mr. Rod Sidle, will present a methodology to construct typical well production profiles and apply type well results to property evaluation and reserves estimation.
Energy Navigator will sponsor and present the full-day workshop first on Monday, May 15th in Calgary, AB, and then again on Friday, May 19th in The Woodlands, TX, as a special add-on to the SPE Gulf Coast Section’s annual Reservoir Technology Forum.
“Energy Navigator is committed to supporting the advancement of technical knowledge across the oil and gas industry,” said company President and Founder Boyd Russell. “We are fortunate to have, on our staff, three experts and former SPE Distinguished Lecturers who have created this unique and timely workshop, so we wanted to share it with everyone – not just our clients. In Calgary, we are offering the full day workshop free of charge. In The Woodlands, we’re covering most of the costs of the course in order to help the SPE Gulf Coast Section’s Reservoir Study Group to raise funds for their industry work and Scholarship Fund.”
