The Downstream Engineering & Construction Canada Conference & Exhibition is positioned at the forefront of the burgeoning downstream industry in Canada. This industry leading event is regarded as the most significant meeting place for Downstream engineering & construction professionals working at the heart of the region’s most important Petrochemical, Chemical, LNG & Refining projects, where they meet to do business.
Canada is becoming an even more attractive area in North America for chemical-related investments because of a highly skilled and educated workforce, a competitive tax system and government subsidies for chemical investments, and cheap and plentiful feedstocks. There are nearly 100 projects being proposed and researched for Canada, valued at more than $12 billion, according to the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC).
Industrial chemical capital expenditures in 2017 grew by 7% to just under $1 billion, according to the CIAC, but there is room for more growth. NOVA Chemicals announced a $2 billion expansion in December in Sarnia Lambton. Shortly after, Inter Pipeline authorized plans for a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) and Polypropylene (PP) facility. Canada Kuwait Petrochemical is in the front-end engineering design phase of its proposed integrated propylene and PP facility in Sturgeon County near Edmonton. And Methanex is looking at either Geismar, Louisiana, U.S. or Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada as a location for its next brownfield $1.0 to $1.6 billion methanol expansion.
These mega projects show that Canada remains high on the list of world class destinations for chemical sector investment. If you’re looking to take advantage of this huge opportunity, then this event will provide you with a leading platform to meet and do business with senior level project executives working at the heart of the regions most important downstream projects.
