The head of a major international economic policy group says Canada isn't walking the green walk of its climate change promises.
Angel Gurria of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development praises Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's climate pronouncements and help getting international agreements signed.
But Gurria, who is in Toronto to speak at the University of Toronto, says Canada is well behind on its commitment to cut greenhouse gases.
He points out the irony of a pro-climate government like the Liberals presiding over emissions increases while the U.S., under President Donald Trump, continues to reduce its greenhouse gas releases.
Gurria adds that rumblings in Alberta about doing away with the province's carbon tax send the wrong message to the rest of the world.
